Yangzheng Xiaoji extract

Definition

A traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)-based formulation containing the Yangzheng Xiaoji (YZXJ) extract, consisting of various components, with potential antineoplastic and anti-angiogenic activities. Some of the main components in Yangzheng Xiaoji are Radix Astragali, Fructus Ligustri Lucidi, Radix Ginseng, Ganoderma, Rhizoma Curcumac, Fried Rhizoma Atractylodis, Macrocephalae and Herba Hedyotidis. Although the exact mechanism(s) through which Yangzheng Xiaoji exerts its effects have yet to be fully elucidated, this agent, upon administration, inhibits the activation of various signaling protein kinases, such as focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and paxillin. This prevents signal transduction pathways that are upregulated in cancer, prevents the adhesion and migration of tumor cells and inhibits tumor cell growth.
